A Cluttered Mind - Followup to Piet's post

Post by minniev »

I had to try that exercise Piet discussed in his post of his masked couch potato.

Here is my effort at drawing my hand (about the 10th try I think) while looking at my hand but not the drawing itself. From the first 9, I learned that the less you take your pen from the paper the better off you'll be. It was still pretty bad. So then I flipped the hand, which had in reality been propped on my knee, so that it could hold something, then found something for it to hold. I learned once again that I am not good at getting words out of my mind. I am quiet by nature, but the words are ever in my head. So I gave them space in here too, along with birds and old things and light.

Whatamess.

absolutely - but still, your hand has lines that are very much alive - and they very much look and feel like a hand - my stuff was just random, yours was very tightly controlled, but yet there is a freedom and cleanliness about your lines.
