'Flamingo City'

Post by davechinn » Tue Jun 11, 2019 1:40 pm

Flamingos are famous for their bright pink feathers, stilt-like legs, and S-shaped neck. ... Flamingos build nests that look like mounds of mud along waterways. At the top of the mound, in a shallow hole, the female lays one egg. The parents take turns sitting on the egg to keep it warm.

I don't usually photograph birds unless it happens to be in an unusual circumstance, which I believe these photos may fall into that category. While at the zoo for my first visit of the year, we happen to come across a less traveled display and I'm pleased that we did. I was educated and fascinate with the Flamingos nests and the process by doing some research. Further thought and observation was "how cool it would have been to witness the egg hatching", timing on my part was not so, but still satisfied with what I got. Enjoy !!!

Wonderful series of my very favorite bird (I used to beg my parents for a flamingo as a pet when I was a kid). The second one is my favorite, but the are all pretty awesome.

Once, before I ever had a camera, I saw a flamingo mating ritual, it was like a line dance.

Thanks Minnie !!! Mating flamingos had to be a site.
