Book in the Works

Post by Ernst-Ulrich Schafer » Tue Nov 06, 2018 1:27 am

Hi Everyone, I'm starting to pursue all of my photo files and have created a book folder. I'm going to create a "Go Fund Me" page around March of next year and my goal
is to have my lst book of BW photos published by Oct/Nov of 2019. Any insights would be quite helpful. Thanks, Ernst

Right now I'm leaning towards a 8X10 size, with 100 images. 100 Hard Bound copies and in the 250 Soft Bound copies. Will be looking into the printing company that
LensWork Quarterly uses.

You know I've always said you need to publish a book! LensWork is a great outfit and anything they use would no doubt do justice to your work. I'll be interested to see how you come out with GoFundMe.

Is it going to be a themed collection or a generic collection? You have so many good themes richly developed, any one of them would yield a nice book collection. And I'm sure you have other themes that we don't even know about.

Not that I know anything at all about it but: While you're at it, why not also submit your book ambitiously to a publisher? You are that good. I'm thinking Steidl. There are many good University Presses too. My favorite photographic artist Jack Spencer, though he lives in TN, publishes through University of Texas Press.

I hope you'll keep us in the loop on this journey. I have similar ambitions though my skills and portfolio are not in league with yours. I hope to learn from your adventure.

Ernst, Count me in for support. I would like to reserve one of the hardbound copies, if it's possible to do that now.

Just got Michael Kenna, A Twenty Year Retrospective, and am working my way through it.

Good luck. Matt

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll keep updating this thread as the project comes along.

Minnie, I will be choosing images from all of the things Iv'e captured and even my portrait work. I will edit my choices down to
100 images.

Matt, Your on the list. Thanks
