Rocky Mountain High
One of several I’ll be posting from the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, on the day of the first snow of the season. Hope some of ya’ll who know more about snow than I do will help. Snow is contrasty! Reflective! Pretty but not easy to get the magic of.
And in this one I wonder if that limb on the right is too much of a distraction.
All other suggestions appreciated, edits too.

It appears that the exposure and color balance of the snow is right on. Sometimes it's hard to get the proper color balance of snow, blue or gray seems to be the issue with most of us, at least me. The limb is of no distraction to me. Was it possible to have gotten a shot at a lower point of view, down by the stream? That would have been my goal, if it were possible.

Thanks Dave. I haven't shot much snow, and it always seems to turn out too blue, but correcting it sometimes makes it worse. I couldn't get to the river (which happened several places on this trip either because it was blocked off somehow, or I just couldn't navigate a route), so settled for the footbridge.davechinn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 22, 2018 11:17 amIt appears that the exposure and color balance of the snow is right on. There is that rare day in fall when the first snow falls on the aspens, and you get the white against yellow. The leaves are gone a day or so after that. I was lucky to get there on that day. I had that luck once in the Sierras. It's better if there's some clouds, but my luck ran out on that part.

You did well with the snow: frosty and new, light and airy. As for clouds, PS wizard that you are, why not import some? Matt
