Mississippi Morning

Post by minniev » Wed Jun 06, 2018 8:18 pm

This morning just after sunrise, in a rather dull gray fog that let too much light shine through but didn't give me any color. I lost detail in the sun most of which is cropped from the top. I'm not sure replacing it would do much good unless I'm printing it. What do you think? I would not be trying to get any detail in it. Suggestions about any of it are appreciated.

I like it a lot...if you're not satisfied with the sky give it some drama...

The main thing I don't like is the muddy color but I wanted other people's ideas on it.

the sky is fine - you don't have too much of it, it has it's own mood, and you can see the beautiful lush greens and yellows it creates. Blue sky and water would never look this good, and a more interesting sky would not give your plants such beauty. I like it as you have it.

Thanks Piet. It was a somewhat muddy fog. It turned gold later, then white, but at this stage it was just a blah kind of fog. But it did give the plants that softbox glow that I love to capture.

Wonderful image and I enjoy seeing the fishermen at the far end.

Thanks Ernst. The fisherman was the subject until I found the patch of bushes all in bloom, then he had to play second fiddle.

Thank you and Sharon for the kind words. Living where I do, I often feel like I’m struggling hopelessly to make something out of nothing.

Have you tried split-toning this to give the sky a golden color? S-
