Take A Knee

Post by minniev » Thu Jan 11, 2018 10:26 pm

A Cypress knee that is. And punch it through blue ice. Another I had trouble finding the right place for but decided this is it. All comments, suggestions, appreciated.

This is awesome - those knees are a super subject - love how you lightened the area around the top one, the texture is just plain beautiful!

A swamp monster! Reaching for the light! S/he has a sweet face like a manatee and a two-opposable-digit hand raised in benediction! Beautiful indeed! (OK)
Friends call me Chuck. :photo: This link takes you to my Flickr albums. Please click on any album to scroll through it.
(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Thank you Piet. Actually, the scene is about as shot. The light area is a gap between the reflections of the dark trees further into the swamp. I shot it to frame the knee in the lighter gap between the shadows. I’ve noticed that every day the ice changed - some days it was flat and shiny, then it would be shattered and crinkly like this, and then it would be grooved and etched into shapes. It’s supposed to get crazy cold next week so I’ll be back out there.

Thank you. I have always thought this one a swamp monster with reaching hand! Glad you see it too!

The second I saw the title I thought Why Didn't I Think Of That? Love it!

The image is haunting and beautiful, and the ice is an amazing backdrop, you would think it was a studio cloth if you hadn't known, but I especially like the shaft of light coming down on the knee. There's a story here of life reaching up and The Light reaching down! S-

Thank you. The ice is different every day, light blue this time. Today it was dark green.

Does anyone besides me see the small woman wearing a hooded cloak with her hand covering one eye and part of her face? Seal Woman I think she is.

New word for me, Minnie. Thanks. I may need a new knee, (who knew?), and wonder what the ortho guy would say if they make it out of cypress. He may send me to the psych ward instead of the OR.

This is very Tolkien-ish for me; love it. Primal life moving up out of the deep into the light, choirs of angel humming softly above, JS Bach on the organ. Thanks. Matt

I am never sure what it says about us folks that see pictures inside of pictures, especially if other folks don't.

Yeah, I can see them too.
