It saddens me to forward the news that our good friend and fellow photographer, Matt Quinn, has passed.
As some of you may know, he had been battling cancer for a while and was on his way to recovery.
Please take a moment to remember him in your prayers.

Always experimenting with techniques. I may add an element or two to this one once I'm satisfied with it. A combination of sketch layer and a layer than diminished detail, then a bunch of texture and brushwork.

I have got to get a handle on your post processing. I absolutely love this, it has a grunge that attracts me. The leading line to the bench person & beyond is outstanding composition.

Thanks Dave. There really isn't a handle, just some steps.

With this one I did a pencil sketch layer with Topaz Impression, and another layer in Topaz Simplify to remove detail and smooth everything out. I did some blending and masking out of the color layer, then painted some of it back in with a wet art brush where the paint would "run". When I got to something I was halfway satisfied with, I added 3 different textures and fooled with blending and masking those as well. I never do these things the same way twice though.

Thank you Frank. I miss the kitchen sink. Considering adding one of the many dogs I met in Havana.

Thanks Minnie for the brief tutorial. I will have to give it a try, it's unknown territory but I'm up for a challenge. I know what you mean about never doing things the same way twice but it sounds as thou you don't try to duplicate the process. For me, I cannot duplicate one of my grunge B&W's. I have tried ever so many times, but still have a basic recipe I follow to some point. That's so at some point in time I won't ask myself "Now How Did I Do That"?

If the process is more than two steps, I can't remember it anyway. By the time I finish a piece I don't know what I did. I get lost in the fun of it. If I hadn't answered that question pretty quickly, I'd never have remembered but it helped me too, to write down some semblance of steps while it was fairly fresh. I need to get better about labeling but I'm not sure that will solve all of it.
