Fantasy Fingerwork

Post by minniev » Tue Nov 06, 2018 6:36 pm

I've been watching lessons on compositing and a bunch of skills new to me were introduced in this round of tutorials. I had to practice so I wandered through a fantasy that got weirder with every brush stroke, but here it is. Not really asking for critique but any advice about tools/etc.

the little girl looks out of place for some reason (that I can't pin down - I think the light looks wrong on her since there the light is coming in strong from the left). But WOW!!!!! That giraffe and the painting fit beautifully. Love that receding hallway with surprises around every corner. It draws you in, it is wonderful.

Way to push this stuff out - they get better and better!!!

Agree with above.
What makes believable fantasy? What makes fantasy believable?
I love the way you introduce graphical design elements into your work now. It is something I will have to look at more closely. Woman at balustrade? Yes you could place her shadow on the floor where the light is, in between the pillars, but that is for you to decide.
Well done!!

Thanks Dave. I’m drawn to the mix of real and fantastical, and looking for better ways to integrate the two.

Thank you Ed. I will work more on the paper-doll girl. I did add a shadow under her hand, but may need to add more shadowing elsewhere. Of course she is a flat construction so I’m still unsure how to give her depth that she never had in the first place. More experimenting!

I’m glad I have some companions here in the journey of creating composites, it is an addictive hobby.

Miinie;
The girl is in between the pillars with light behind her. Therefore her shadow will fall on the floor on the lighted part between the shadows of the pillars.
Have fun!!
