About Felix - Fingerwork of a New Variety

Post by minniev » Sun Sep 09, 2018 2:42 pm

My friend Felix the junkman lives behind this fence. The fence goes on for a quarter mile in this same fashion. I need suggestions as to how to photograph this and present it. This was my first try, so I incorporated my latest concoction of illustration/cartoonish strategies with textures, layers, brushes, and text just because I could. But I would like to make something interesting of it if I can figure out an approach.

Minnie, I can't help with what you have posted. So far, it looks as though you have put a collage together. I can't see a fence here, alto I don't doubt there is one there. I just need to see more to determine where I would go with it if it were mine. Sorry !!!

what you did is interesting, regarding a long fence... perhaps a wall of China approach - try to get the length of it and show some countryside..

For anyone who wants to help me figure, this is what the original image looks like. I shot several sections of the thing before my husband started complaining about the mosquitos. I want to figure out something to do with it. One day when I've got time I want to ramble through the countless buildings and sheds full of junk. American Pickers would die for this. They have no idea. Felix is totally off the grid.

I'm not a friend of ladders right now. It is conceivable to stand on the seat of my truck and emerge through the sunroof. Might help a little... check the original image I posted and see if you think of anything else.

I always take cash when I go to visit Felix. Everything is for sale except the books he hasn't yet read. Or for barter. We did a lot of barter when the house renovation was going on. Felix got a dozen trailer-loads of stuff out of my way, and I got old windows, crown moulding, door lintels, and other building materials. All the stuff on the fence is stuck into cement, it's a permanent installation.

I like everything about it except the font, and the color, the font and the color! s-
