you are at some point blend the lighting, right? when completely done or something.
Yes -- my todo list --
1) continue adding elements. I want a flow from the fore ground, I want things doing a better job of overlapping
2) clean up gore a little (make it presentable so it is just a bird sitting on his chest)
3) paint faces for more detail
4) get weapons and armor to look cool
5) use atmosphere perspective to move pieces forward or back (the charger needs to look like he is busting through) - swordman's face needs to pop better
6) get turbulance in there, things flying in the air/explosive type of feel

then what you are talking about
7) blend in some textures
8) run some unifying filters (Nik stuff and Topaz impressions perhaps)

But as with the swordman's face.. If you see something that is bugging you, help me see it!!!

Right now it has an overly bright feel, but I will attempt to turn the mood darker

I'll follow this with interest. The detail of your work, and watching it develop, is pretty amazing.

Texture work, paired with dodge-and-burn work, will calm down the brightness and help pull elements together.

looking forward to seeing this develop...
thanks Frank... Already I am faced with a big choice -- What color?! I am thinking green for the people that will have their backs to us. I was kind of thinking about keeping the colors complementary (redish/yellowish vs bluish). But the sky has some cool spooky green in it, so perhaps using green will be ok...
Green in the sky? Don't see it. Guess I do have some color deficiency. Back to B&W for me.

Love the dripping blood and guts on the sword. Now, that I can see. Well done Piet. George Lucas, watch out. Matt

LOL, thank you Matt. The battle is mostly over, I have learned some lessons and now I will drag myself back onto my old horse and ride into the darkness.

sigh... couldn't leave it alone, I felt it needed a foreground element - the leaves. The dog happened to be where the leaves were - plus it added a surreal element. I worked on atmospheric perspective a little (making the back ground less contrasty and less saturated) but the flag still doesn't read right.

I like the location of the element but it seems way to laid back to be in battle...something more fierce maybe or at least bloodied up a bit

Yes - she was a dirty girl that day!

I tried Frank, background is much better, I showed Buffy her picture and she growled at me, I don't think I got it quite right!!

Umm... I think you're changing the narrative here. What's in your head? Why the sudden surrealism?
