'Horse, Donkey and a Jackass'

Post by davechinn »

This is a composite that I had finished a few weeks ago. I tried to post it, but had issues with the file size. It was too large for PM and I gave up with posting until I had a conversation with Minnie. She chose to tackle my issue that I don't fully understand as of yet.

For now I'm posting this composite I put together using three different images. The background was somewhere in Arizona, the horse and donkey was in Texas. Yours truly in Kentucky, which I have used in a previous composite on a motorcycle. Thoughts and or suggestions for improvements are welcomed. The file size issue will most likely be discussed as well I'm sure. I really would like to get to the bottom of that issue. Thanks Minnie you have been very helpful. :)

Overall I like the concept Dave....however I think yours truly has proportional problems and the subjects don't seemed balance enough with the rest of the image...lighting and general blending seem to be well done.

Love the mood and the humor - this is awesome. I would consider moving the donkey more to the right - even if it means that you need to deal with a foot/boot that would need to surface. Think about using liquify to move the arms around a little to a more wild panic pose. And consider adding something to the center that the animals are reacting to - a giant snake, or a little girl holding a tulip - something.. I think this image is awesome and looks like a lot of fun.

I love this concept, you made me laugh for the first time in a while. I was wanting the horse/donkey/Dave grouping a little further right too, like Piet. Sometimes I feel like life is a lot like that critter you're riding, and I'm hanging on for all I'm worth.

I am curious about the distortion because I know what a time you had with this file misbehaving in transit. Was the distortion your artistic choice, or was it another anomaly that just happened for reasons we don't fully understand. It's OK either way, but if it happened by accident, it might be related to the compression craziness that we've already talked about.
