Coke 3D

Postby Duck » Wed Oct 11, 2017 5:47 am

Inspired by Dave's (uuglypher) fantastic 2D to 3D stereoscopic conversions I thought I would try my hand at one. After a couple of tests to get the process settled in my mind, here is my first real attempt at rendering my own cross eye stereoscopy.

Let me know your thoughts.

Me neither. I used to have no trouble but since two eye surgeries I discover I have lost the ability. Nuts.

Works for me, Duck. The coke comes off the screen. Nicely done. Matt

Thanks for looking folks, even those who have trouble crossing eyes :-)
I found out I can't work for too long with this as it gives me a headache.

Not sure what I am doing, Duck, but if I look at the equi_distance between the two coke bottles without focusing, then, yes it does stand out.

Did you shift the two images by feel or was there a better way to control the distance the right versus the left? S-

The technique is fairly simple, the application of it requires some skill. It uses a displacement map in Photoshop to create the effect. The left image is normal while the right image has the shift that creates the 3D effect. I'm not sure that's completely right it's just how I did this one. I found a few videos of varying usefulness that explains how to make and use displacement maps.
