Onion Moon ( Just For Fun - Wanta Try It Yourself? )

Post by minniev » Tue Jun 11, 2019 3:02 am

In my occasional lazy midday time at the country house, I find odd projects to shoot. I made a challenge for myself, and I invite you to do similar:
1. I picked up 3 unrelated objects in the kitchen and set them on a cloth, in a random arrangement but not overlapping.
2. Shot the scene (without as much care as i should have), with no plan as to what I meant to do with it. It might be more fun if you got someone else to pick the 3 objects. It was a meaningless scene, which I started to delete, but perversely made up this challenge for myself instead, using all 3 elements.
3. Later (after my computer died and was reborn) I brought it into Photoshop and extracted the elements.
4. I arranged the elements into a scene with some support materials from old photos, scans, and assorted junk to make a fun composition.
5. I added other textures, elements from my files, various adjustments and masks to "decorate". I added a moon masked in over the onion, a furry brush on the dog, added a background and some stars, stretched the spoon into a reflecting pool.

I'm lovin' the concept Minnie, but most of all I'm lovin' your artistic vision. I'll have to put my attempt on the back burner for now thou.

You are so far ahead of most of us, you don't need practice, but I'd love to see a new Chinn composite!

I do say, the onion moon is a good one.

I think astronomers should pick one of those lunar seasons and actually call it the Onion Moon.
I can see the amateur photographers around the globe lining up for that shot already. :D

C’mon, Duck, take the challenge! Make a Duck-Original out of flotsam and jetsam you grab up around that scary studio.

Sure, why not. I'll take a look around and see what comes together.
