Another assignment I didn't like.

Had to use a model. I don't do models. They supplied two model shoots to pick from. To me, model shots look silly. They are contrived and contorted. I feel embarrassed for the models. So I picked the least contrived looking one and had this go at it. There were also a bunch of backgrounds and squiggles and splotches but none of the fun elements I like using. You couldn't use anything of your own in this challenge. I found a cat on the edge of a background, and chopped off a corner of another background to make some textures with.

The two day challenges have restrictions on what you can use. Today’s let me use my own photos thank goodness.

I like this very much Minnie. An old time Mural is what I see and I assume that's what this is to represent? Actually, this could probably be seen in New Orleans, Atlanta or anywhere in the southern states.

Don’t shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like.

Though I hate to admit it, the exercise was good. Having to use a restricted group of materials that are totally antithetical to my style was frustrating but I learned something important about thinking creatively and about modifying materials to fit my wishes instead of accepting them as they are. I think you do a lot of that too.

Thanks Dave. That was my general intent, though not everything fit exactly. All the materials were highly colored in primary colors. I ran them through Analog Efex individually and then at the end as a whole to try to make them work together.

After I posted it, I wished I'd tried to add a leash or a string to tie the woman to the cat. May yet do that!
