The Whirl of the Waicipi

Post by RBorud » Tue Aug 28, 2018 2:00 pm

HiAll
Living in Minnesota we are surrounded by many Native American reminders. Almost all I find beautiful, and very exiting. Here is an image I have spent a good amount of time on, and personally it gives me pleasure. Please enjoy and contemplate. RBorud

A wonderful image. Photographing such dances is never easy for me because where I'm from, the dancers are interwoven into a crowd, or else they are on a stage with the usual stage equipment that may work for musicians but not for native dancers. They are worth the challenge though, both the dances and the regalia are so beautiful.

But the photograph was only the beginning I'm sure. This one seems mostly painting, about which I'm curious too. I know you've said you are a traditional artist as well as a photographer, and it shows in your creations. I'd be interested in knowing anything else you're willing to share about how you approached creating this one.
