Some cool (or should I say "hot!" and colorful alternatives! I have Impression (this has already had a run through there with my favorite paint filter Degas Dancers). Thanks Ed.

Degas Dancers? A filter in Topaz Impression?
I don't have it.
Flower, lower right in picture.
Comes through as a very strong element and takes your eyes away from centre.
Was this a deliberate design consideration?
For me, I would, fade or whatever and reduce it to a soft texture. Yes it is there, but you'd have to look hard for it.

Yep, I confess I did it on purpose, also the dragonfly upper left. I will try the fading and see. I like faded stuff that you have to look for. Visual puzzles.

You don't have Degas Dancers? There are two of them. Maybe we have different versions. Is yours in Studio? If not, check and see if you're eligible to upgrade to that version. I was. It has other goodies the first version didn't have. I can't remember if I had the Degas filters before I upgraded or not.

I know everyone has always told me "simplify, less is more" and I so admire the work of those who do that well. But I must admit I've been told that for the 10 years I've been doing photography and if I review my work, I have not budged an inch. I was an everything-but-the- kitchen-sink photographer when I started and I still am. I do know how to shoot more simply and do it for the discipline of it ever so often, but it isn't any fun for me. So I reckon I'll go down in the messy overladen boat I sailed in on.

Good for you, Minnie, be yourself. I'll remember that.
Degas dancers. I have the Topaz Impression plug in.
Damned plug ins, filters ETC: I have a stack of them, but still prefer the simple approach.... :?
