Color Chair

Postby Ernst-Ulrich Schafer » Wed Oct 11, 2017 9:47 pm

Another chair image and this time in color. We have a small cruise ship that comes in weekly and docks at our City Pier. Stopped by this morning on my way
to my studio to take a look.

I love this, Ernst! If I had a cottage on a lake or the ocean, I'd order a series :) Also, it falls into the category of inspiration where I like to imagine that if I'd seen the same scene, I'd "get" the possibilities, and if not, I'd think about why I hadn't - and learn for the next time.

Another astonishing example of what I've been tawkin' about: the Ernst EYE. Clean, simple, line and shadow, exquisitely executed. I like it in color, but I bet it would work equally well in B&W because it's about design more than anything. I wish I could imagine that had I happened upon it I'd have seen it, but I mostly imagine that I would have passed on by and never noticed. But I can appreciate that (A) you noticed it and (B) knew how to photograph it. :yay:

(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Great eye for the moment, Ernst. Since I am used to your darker photos, I was delighted to see this one. And to note that the lines at the bottom are parallel but the ones at the top are not. Matt

I can appreciate the spotting of subject, composition and perspective, technique of capture, but what puts it over the top for me is the presentation....would love to have just an oz. of your darkroom knowledge Ernst...

This is why Ernst is a master photographer.
