Seeing in 3s: Bolted

Postby Matt Quinn » Sun Sep 17, 2017 1:50 am

Chuck Haacker. in his post, Bronze Newsboy, noted that he is beginning to see scenes and stories in 3s because that is the limit of photos we can post at one time. I saw this as a subtle suggestion for a thread. So, here is my contribution. Matt

I love this story, Matt. Very creative and fun. The tone is set strongly with #1 - the horse's alert ears and interest in what's beyond the stall. #3 would make a great single shot too, with those textures, lines and details. Inspiring series!

I too find myself thinking in 3's, which may be a good thing.

I like your Bolted series, the world from the horse's viewpoint. But it also has compositional lines that help frame or guide the eye. And those overlapping geometric angles that always catch my attention in a picture.

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Thank you, Linda. The horses are gone now but new ones are on the way in the next year or so. An opportunity for other stories, I hope. Thanks for the comment on #3; ;I spent a lot of time composing it; the others I had to grab quickly. Best. Matt

Thanks Minnie. Old Aristotle had it right: a story has a beginning, middle and end, whether it"s comedy, tragedy or life. 3s seem built into our fabric Matt

Maybe we should start a series and see where it goes from there! I love this! S-
