I still not sure what it is, but I like it and will keep looking at it! S-

The first one made me check that I had the right glasses...
The second made me catch my breath!
Incredible tonal , contrastual (I think I just coined that neologism...seems a useful one...) and geometric balance!

I have just the place to hang it.

Best to ya, Ernst

I can't critique these photos. They are out of my league. I do like them both for different reasons; but I'm most enchanted with the second shot for all the reasons that Minniev mentioned.

These are in Member's Showcase so there's no critiquing but for most of us how we feel about an image, and why, is good enough! S-

I would call the first 'Black and white', but it has its place and I like it! S-

Beautiful! Chiaroscuro! These last put me very much in mind of Block Island, Rhode Island, a tiny rock just at the edge of the broad Atlantic. My grandparents vacationed there pretty much every year, and often they took me with them. I loved The Island (all we ever called it), and so much of it was very Victorian. In 2013 we did our only eastern road trip and it was with some trepidation that I decided to risk a day trip out to The Island, fully expecting it to be utterly different, and ruined, in the you-can't-go-home-again tradition. I was gobsmacked that it had changed hardly at all! It was still Our Island, and Daphne got to briefly see the place I'd talked so much about for so many years.
Friends call me Chuck. :photo: This link takes you to my Flickr albums. Please click on any album to scroll through it.
(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|
