The Opposite of How I Feel

Post by minniev »

When I cooked this up a couple of weeks ago I was feeling pretty good, and had some fun with it. Even though it is dissonant now, I wanted to share it. I had this dam bird photo of the birds with crazy feathers so I invented them a beauty shop to clean that up.

Quite humorous and whimsical. For some reason this reminds me of some collages I've seen from the 60s and 70s.

It may remind you of those because beneath most of the composites I do lurks the ghost and inspiration of the deBeers diamond ads of the 60s. I collected them as a teenager, and though I don’t have that scrapbook any more they live on in my mind so I hunted some down tonight after reading your post and attached my old favorite. The style was probably something of that era that was done in other advertising but for me, the deBeers series was magic and though I haven’t seen them in a lotta years they sneak into stuff I create now.

Inside all of us is the 14 year old we once were. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.

This is fun and would love to see more, a series of them! S-
