We only have one statewide juried photo competition in photo-challenged Mississippi. It is sponsored by the Wildlife Federation and covers several categories and levels of photography. I’ve always participated in it, and some years have done well. I just learned that two of my images have advanced to this year’s final competition in the pro division. Overall winner to be announced next weekend. https://mswildlife.org/events/outdoor-p ... y-contest/. Two more of my shots placed in other divisions. I have had a request to purchase the two winning images for publication in a state outdoor magazine.

So, THANK YOU to all of you who critiqued these images and helped me see ways to improve them before they were submitted. It’s your recognition too. And a reminder of how valuable feedback from fellow photographers can be.

Congratulations Minnie, an honor well deserved !!! I don't remember seeing your B&W image “When Cotton Was King” and of course I absolutely love it.

And now you know there are other photographers in the area you can befriend and shoot with.

Wonderful all around and beautiful images! S-
Thanks. And I am always looking. There aren't many of these guys near here, unfortunately, and I've yet to catch any of them in the wild. Maybe I'll see one Sunday at the show. I did meet a lady from up near Memphis last year at the show.

Thanks Dave. I may not have posted that old delta barn anywhere. I had not done much with it till the contest rolled around and I was looking for something to convert to monochrome for that category.
It is amazing what conversion can do for an image - made the sky much more relevant, and brought out the detail that was washed out in a sunny mid-day shot.
