Chemo: all done

Post by Matt Quinn » Mon Jul 02, 2018 1:58 am

Thursday was my 6th and final chemo session. My thanks to all who have been encouraging and supportive. Sharing photos with you gave me daily purpose and focus. I will long remember.

I was first into the center so I chose a chair by a window and took a photo of the area before others arrived. Then I had my chair turned so I could look out.

A ringing of the bell three times indicates to all who can hear that someone has finished treatment. Folks gather around, staff, other patients, family, while the patient reads the text and rings the bell. Then there is a lot of applauding, hugging and some crying.

The text was composed by Irv Le Moyne, a former Navy Seal and rear admiral who died of cancer at 57. Most cancer centers around the country have a bell and the plaque.

I go back to the oncologist in three weeks; if all is still in remission, then we are off to Cape Cod by the end of July. I am eager to see what I will see there now.

Again, many thanks.

Matt

Wonderful news. So glad to hear everything is going well. I'll still keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing in your direction just for good measure.

Thanks Duck. I am still hopeful that we might stop by for a quick hello on our way to the Cape; plans are unclear at the moment but I will keep you informed. Best. Matt

Thanks Dave. Prayers and good thoughts have worked. Now we put one foot in front of the other. Lots of support on pM and from friends and family -- all working. I am eager to get to the Cape but uncertain what to expect since I will probably have to avoid the sun. May have to restrict photos to very early morning and late evening. We'll see what we see. Matt

We all celebrate with you and your family. Great set of images. Your new hair style gives you a rather rakish look, kind of Michael Avenotti-ish. Bride will have to keep a close guard on you to keep the other ladies away while you're at the Cape.

The best photos are early and late anyway. Practice your photoshop skills during mid-day on the cape. One project can be you busting a hole through that No Exit sign with your fist?

the Cape Calls -
First Rule of Photography - Take images only during the early morning.
Second Rule of Photography - Take images only during the late evening.
