come sit on the deck with me

Post by PietFrancke » Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:05 pm

so this morning, my six foot neighbor comes over and startles my dog. I made Buffy go inside and asked my neighbor if I could take a shot or two of him, he did not say no. I would have offered him a beer, but he seemed overly friendly. Shirl is not going to like this, not at all..

edit - I am pretty sure it is a Black Rat Snake, so I am suitably fearful for my life!

LOL, thanks Frank. I would not want to be close to a Rattle Snake, that is for sure. My worst occasion was when I was climbing a bank and reached up to use a tree branch to pull myself up. My hand ended up inches away from a gigantic black snake that was coiled on the branch. I am pretty sure my heart missed a beat. Most people (me too) have natural fear of these things.

Nice shots of a handsome fellow. He looks a lot like the one who lives under my house, working to keep out mice. Love that first shot with the “frame”. Potential for creative images too.

I might have to work up the framed one.. Thanks Paula, I know they serve a purpose, the mice don't like them either.

so a few hours went by, and damned if another (or perhaps the same) snake didn't make it up the deck - they are Fearless, or Stupid (me, I was scared and Stupid). Buffy had to go back inside again. And then later, I heard a thump and there was a stunned woodpecker on the deck, and overly curious Buffy went back inside for the third time. The woodpecker ended up being ok and flew to a nearby tree - I think they must have well-made heads ready to absorb impacts.

But not everything was snakes, I got a picture of some vines, and then as the light was fading I shot a goldfinch and a final shot at the sky.

THAT'S funny right there!
That first shot, framed in the ring in the chair? That's a potential seller in Stock!

(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

thank you Frank and Matt.

Chuck, Matt cracked me up too! Thank you for the idea on the ring frame stock shot, I'll see if I can clean it up a little.

In the mean time, this morning I took the sky that Matt liked and tried to composite in some birds that I also got yesterday. (I'm not to sure about how the integration went, but what the heck..)
