Blackberries In Shade

Post by minniev » Wed May 30, 2018 5:27 pm

I've spent a lot of time this past 2 weeks on the farm, so I'm taking photos of just what's there, and seeing what I can make of interest with mundane subjects.

My blackberry patch looks a bit stunted, but the berries have gone from green to red so I'm hopeful there will be enough for a decent pie. Even though these images won't be particularly impressive or exciting, I'd like your advice on how to make them more interesting.

These are quite delicious, both literally and figuratively. Thanks for sharing. RBorud

Thanks Frank, you brightened up the shade! I'd love to see a Piet version too.

And I see Russell Borud has passed through the thread. I'd love to see his version too. Both of them bring so much art and imagination to their processing.

Thanks. I couldn't help but wonder what a RBorud version of these berries might look like...

Pic of the pie, please. Then Piet can add the 4 & 20 blackbirds. Matt

I find I prefer the original. I like what Frank did, but I'm thinking the brighter colors and opening up the whites becomes a little distracting. I don't mind brightening the central cluster of berries, but the whites and greens now seem to be competing for attention.
Friends call me Chuck. :photo: This link takes you to my Flickr albums. Please click on any album to scroll through it.
(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Thanks Chuck. It was shot in deep shade of just after sunrise, before the light arrived in the berry patch. I hope they can stay on the bush long enough to ripen. The deer love them, and I can tell by the tracks that they're keeping a close eye on the patch's progress.
