You bet it does!
To my eye the starkpredominance of negative space counterposed and heavily imbalanced by the waaaay off_center subject - especially when the subject is small and delicate and endearing- is incredibly impactful and engaging.

it invokes mystery. No, not the right word.. it invokes a type of dread. The blanks space with the out of focus blur and mess reminds me of a WW2 historical type of photo. So I get a sense of dissonance and impending doom from the image.
