On Copper Wings

I am proud of finding out exactly who this is: she's a red-banded hairstreak! What a name! She is attracted to 3 plants primarily and this one is dogbane. I hope you're impressed! Here is a great resource for butterflies and their favorite restaurants. Just in case you've snapped a photo of a butterfly and feel curious to know who she is. Then you can tell me how to improve my butterfly photography or editing. I've been watching them but just started trying to do more than watch.

butterflies are fast and (for me) hard to sneak up on - they just flitter away. I like this shot a lot min. The name reminds me of an old Jr High school teacher that I can remember.

I'd be proud too if I could research that well....as for the image...my suggestions are to lessen the brightness of the greens and whites, I find them competing with subject...then I would amplify her look...another take might be a heavy crop as all the oof is also distracting....Just not quite feeling this one minniev as is.

Edit: good thing Piet and I think different......gives you more to decipher.....

Edit again:.....you left out the resource link...

I love this image but oddly not for the hairstreak, it's the lighting on the top-left 'petals' and the three dimensional quality of the image. The butterfly is beautiful too but seems more like an addition rather than center stage. I imagine there are multiple images here! S-
