Azalea Festival Car Show - 2017-1

Post by TomCofer » Sun May 07, 2017 1:42 am

Every year, we have a local festival that includes a car show. It almost didn't happen this year due to all the flooding and rain, but Mother Nature is giving us a break just long enough to have it.

They have lots of beautiful cars show up every year. As odd as it may sound, car shows aren't a very good place to get the best shots of them. :)
There is always lots of folks gathered around, looking at them and the backgrounds are usually pretty cluttered. Since I still haven't made arrangements to meet and shoot with the local car club, I'll have to settle for these.

(I didn't get a chance to spend much time up there due to my crazy hours, working midnight shift. I only got a few quick grabs while they were still sitting up.)

I'd have this one in the Showcase section because they aren't very good, but I'll put 'em here since I've already started this thread.
Sorry for all the blown-out highlights.

Tom, being a local car show the people and background clutter are all part of the scene. I would much prefer to see folk admiring a car than see a "pristine showroom" image.

Thanks Graham.
That'd be ok if I could get 'em to back off enough to see the car in the shots. :D
They also make it a challenge to get any detail shots.
Still, you are right in that they are part of the event. It's just that every year I intend to catch the car club without the crowds so I can get more detail shots along with shots with the hoods closed and such. It's been a few years, and I still haven't gotten around to it. :(

Autos don't do much for me - lol - but I like your close ups very much, Tom. Shiny, sleek, red...I can see a lot of opportunity to photograph for form and style, even abstract. Might have to go to a show now :)

Thanks Linda.
I don't know anything about cars except that I love looking at the oldies.
