A Re-Imagined Thing

Post by minniev » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:50 pm

It is definitely in the Thing category. It is a glass Thing given to me by a boss who loved glass Things. I have about a half dozen of them. It is basically just clear glass with a red candy stripe ribbon of color on it. When working with my last weekly challenge that I didn't understand enough about, I was shooting through glass with various kinds of flashlights. So with this one, it was kinda bland till I ran it through a Topaz filter I'd never used called Glow, which imparts stringlike threads of light all over an image. Once I tried some blending modes I ended up with this version of the Thing which I confess to sort of liking.Any ideas or edits welcome.

Oh, it's beautiful. Elegant. Sinuous. I love it. Am I to understand that it doesn't actually look precisely like that? It's more digital magic than real? I'm NOT complaining---it's gorgeous, just wondering if the Thing really is bland but not WOW (now). (OK)

(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Original from the raw file of the Glass Thing.

You can see the speckles lower right from the LED flashlight where I was trying to inject some light into the lower interior of the Thing. Anyone who might take a notion to play with the Thing is welcome!

Piet, Can you somehow introduce Mr. Rat Snake into the composition? Real and imagined. Still and moving. Matt

Wouldn't he be outstanding weaving his way through? Has anyone tried to use the puppet warp feature in PS? It might work!

Wow that's amazing how different the two images are, love it!

And as a side, scroll the browser just above the bottom loop, it's a completely different picture! S-
