Matt;
I am totally jealous of what you have displayed. The matting and framing and obvious care to present your work is really something.
Perhaps one day, your display will rival Ernst's.
Kind regards;
ed davis

Thanks Ed. Kind words. But I doubt I'll rival Ernst; his taste and eye are way beyond mine. But thanks for the thought. Matt

It's good to see that images are being printed and framed. Too many lie quietly within the digital confines of a disc drive that it doesn't make sense. A photograph comes to life when it's printed.

Thanks Piet. No need for jealousy; I am sure your walls are covered. Matt

Thanks Duck. With some success, I have tried to print books, family calendars and photos regularly. Two copies; one for MD and one for the Cape. Then, one will go to each of the sons and their families when I shuffle off. Even now, on a lazy afternoon, someone will thumb through a volume or two. Very satisfying. I decided years ago that, since no one will want my digital files, the best approach is the old-fashioned print.

Three of the display, the big one in the middle and the two surrounding it, are prints by other photographers that I have bought. The rest are mine. About half a dozen of my others are against the facing wall. I keep most of them on the floor since I don't want to put holes in the walls; I change them when I no longer notice them.

Lovely Matt. Your work looks fantastic in black and white!! And especially against that nice white woodwork and in those simple dark frames.

I pile art around myself, and have had the pleasure of, starting in June, beginning to fill the walls of my Country House with my own prints and those of my friends, and artwork across generations. Next week a feature writer from the newspaper nearby is coming to meet me there and do a story on the history of the house and the art we’ve accumulated.
