I would not have posted here as it is too noisy for my taste......but I got an email from Topaz and checked it out...quite impressive, although not perfect in this case but has potential in my opinion...what say y'all ?

might just be me, but a little noise is not bad. Am thinking the smooth might be too strong - but that is all about preference. Looks like it has good power for the toolbox. I'm thinking about the Topaz sharpening AI, but will wait for a sale - eighty bucks too much.

this was free if you had ai clear or denoise....it was I who over did some skin on this one, especially around the chin area, probably could have done better with the filter had I spent more time learning and adjusting along with some masking..

I'm with Piet, a little noise is not so bad. Altho, there was a time I disliked any noise and fought to remove it, but now I find myself adding noise to some degree with canvas/grunge layers, etc. This image isn't so bad, but I do see the improvement of the removal. The captured image of the lovely model has been well converted and processed Frank. The overall tone is appealing to view, but the neck area needs some attention. Nice work !!! 8):

Thank you Dave....I don't mind noise either but this one just had too much for my taste so I never bothered with trying to fix it..now though, after seeing what's possible with this new noise reduction I might give it another go...a casual grab indoors with high iso..it's funny but I have noticed on some of my low light images certain iso's have less noise than others even if they are higher..I need to study that more so I know what iso's I should use and know I'll be happy with as far as noise goes.

That's interesting. It seems to have left good detail in the eyes/hair but smoothed the skin, I wonder if thats the AI working on it? I have not tried it but may, since noise is an ever present threat to anyone who shoots with an m43 camera. I hate noise, but it's unavoidable with smaller sensors.

I have sometimes added some grain back in after i murder a file with Noiseless, which I use for terrible noise, or let a layer of the noisy version sneak in at a low opacity.
