This one is a good one too, but he looks as sad here as he is joyous in the other. In this one he reminds me of a character in Lord of the Rings, worried about the coming battle at Mordor. Well taken, great detail, I don't have any suggestions for improvement as I don't see anything really wrong. It is one I would go over at high magnification to look for areas of the background next to his face or hair that might do better burned in some more, or smoothed out.

Frank, absolutely amazing !!! Even tho I liked your other photo of this gentleman, I like this one for different reasons. I agree with Minnie, he has a sad expression, but you take what you can get. Various expressions are always interesting to look at and to process as well. Whats so appealing to me in this one vs the other image, is the darker background allows the viewer to focus more on the subject. It brings all of the attention to him without any distractions. There is good separation between the two (subject & background) as well. The pose is one I like, its not necessarily considered a profile and even tho I have done profile shots I really don't care for them all that much. A pleasure to view Frank !!!

Frank, Interesting how we react to the same photo. I see a twinkle in his eye, the early sign of a smile, and a faraway look that suggests something either caught his attention or reminded him of something and he's puzzling. Glorious light. Love the detail in the beard. Matt
