New Year's Day 2005

Post by Ernst-Ulrich Schafer » Tue Jan 06, 2015 5:20 pm

Blast from the past. New Year's Day 2005 in Port Townsend. I'm sure this is the lst time I worked an upside/down image. Two chairs at the Bishop Hotel standing on wet pavement. I reworked this image this morning using the NIK Silver Effects softwear, dodging and burning this time around, split toned this one plus adding my presentation frame. A few years back I was treated to the work of Fan Ho, his upside/down work blows me away, actually all of his work does this to me! I'm now working close to 40 years on my "New Year's Day" project.

It is one thing to take a picture. It takes something else to turn it into art, which you have done.

I sent this image to the Bishop Hotel via facebook. The always show some art work on their walls. Back, I'm thinking about 15 years ago a photographer named Paul Conklin (lst Peace Corp photographer) has his work up and I attended the reception, was able to visit with him at his home and purchased on of this images for my collection. I vowed I was going to have my own showing at the Bishop one day. Today I get a message from the Bishop, we've been admiring your work on facebook, could we have you here for the month of May? Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
