Member's ShowcaseSt. Louis Zoo - Orangutans and Gorillas

Wild animals are a great challenge to photograph. Always unpredictable with rich payoffs.
- Wild animals of any type, non-domestic animals in their natural habitats, even wildlife in captivity.

St. Louis Zoo - Orangutans and Gorillas

Postby TomCofer » Sat Aug 20, 2016 4:33 am

Note: The Orangutans were in their indoor enclosure. I had to shoot them thru very thick glass and in low light. The mother and baby were at an extreme angle, almost directly below me and the baby was very active. Still, I managed to get some acceptable shots of them.

The fifth image of the gorilla is poignant and tells so much!

Thank you for sharing! S-

Kinda thought he needed a caption, something like, "Stinking rabbit food! I want a steak!"

I listened to a TED Radio Hour Talk recently and it said one of the main things that moved us from the apes was our diet. Apes, like many animals, spend the majority of their day eating food that barely sustains then, while Man has learned to eat food that would sustain us at every meal, and we learn new and better ways all the time.

Thank you again for such an interesting series and taking us along to the zoo with you! S-
