Use Your Magic Eyes

Postby Ceropegia » Mon Aug 15, 2016 2:11 pm

For those of you familiar with the technique for viewing Magic Eye 3D images, this is a natural one. Try it. It will give a very nice 3D lattice in the foreground with a mirror like dark background. One New York Plaza Building windows, Lower Manhattan, New York City

Keep trying. Here is a good explanation of the phenomenon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autostereogram. Near the bottom, this article has a super picture of chessboard that just jumps out in 3D when you look at it properly. Basically you trick your eyes into viewing an image stereoscopically. If you have ever succcessfully tried to see a pair of stereoscopic images in 3D without a viewer, the technique is similar.

Neat stuff. Amazing how the mind can play tricks on you if you let it. If you are interested in illusions, check this one out - http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/index.html.
