Is it odd there are no women in the photo? S-
Graham Smith wrote:There are plenty of women around but they do have problems in India. India as the worst G20 country in which to be a woman. Sexual harassment or "Eve teasing" as it is known, and rape are, it has to be said, commonplace as are acid attacks.
"A Thomas Reuters Foundation survey says that India is the fourth most dangerous place in the world for women to live in. Women belonging to any class, caste, creed or religion can be victims of this cruel form of violence(acid throwing) and disfigurement, a premeditated crime intended to kill or maim permanently and act as a lesson to put a woman in her place. In India, acid attacks on women who dared to refuse a man's proposal of marriage or asked for a divorce are a form of revenge. Acid is cheap, easily available, and the quickest way to destroy a woman's life. The number of acid attacks have been rising".
We visited "Sheroes Hangout" to make a donation, its a place that helps the victims of acid attacks to overcome the trauma of horrible disfigurement by giving them the means to integrate back into a normal life. The victims run a cafe and design and make clothing. It gives them purpose and confidence.
On the left is Karen who is a palliative care nursing specialist from England, centre is Dolly an acid attack victim and on the right is my daughter the Revd. Melanie Smith who is campaigner for women's rights.

It needs the mean people to understand that they are mean and that being mean isn't the norm or acceptable.
