Showcase your best sunset photos

Post by Duck » Sat Sep 01, 2018 5:14 pm

Sunsets, without question, are one of the most beautiful offerings nature can give us. A rather spectacular sunset can even move people on a spiritual level. As photographers, it is one of those scenes that tends to be a must have in our collection. Here is your chance to showcase your best sunset photo along with others.

Post only your best shots.

This was taken at the historic Savin Rock Beach in West Haven next to the conference center. Post processed in Photoshop.

What a great idea for a thread! It fits well with the Masters offering this month too.

I can’t say this is my best sunset shot but it is one from the day of my favorite sunset ever, and it is the only one I have on my ipad from that day so it’ll have to do.

The story on this one: my brother called me late one afternoon and told me to look out at the sky. The unusual cloud formation scudding overhead made me lose my mind. I grabbed the wrong camera with the wrong lens and took off in my house slippers to chase it. I knew it would take half an hour to get to open space at best, which would cut it close, but I speeded there, tumbled down the riprap along the reservoir in the deadly slippers and sat with the local TV feature writer/producer to watch the progression of the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen including those in Yosemite, Yellowstone, Iceland, Banff. At its peak it looked like a scene from the movie Life of Pi. I had nothing to use as foreground other than dead water lilies. This is from late in the sequence.

Duck,

Left my external hard drive in MD with all the photos from past years. No sunset pix yet this year. Let today's sunrise be a place holder for the moment, please.

Duck,

Thanks for starting this thread. Yours is a challenge. Like, thanks a lot.

Minnie, If this is with the wrong equipment, I can't imagine what you would do with the right stuff. Gorgeous.

Frank, I think George Lucas could learn from you. Splendid.

Two from tonight.

The first shows Sparky in his new tractor. He gives hayrides, for a donation, from Kate's Ice Cream Stand, about a mile away, down to Paines Creek Landing for a sunset viewing, Most of the riders are families with young children, or sweethearts heading down for a cuddle,

Ice cream, hayride, sunset, cuddling -- a great summer evening.

In the second, an elderly fellow was performing some form of sun worship before taking a cleansing dip.
