I have tried my best lens, a 50-200 which is equivalent to 400 maxed out, and got better results with it than with the longer but lesser 70-300 which would be about 600 maxed out. I'd lose a lot of light with that longer one since the 50-200 is 2.0 all the way through the range, and with my camera, light costs detail and you pay in noise. I've got some on occasion that I was moderately satisfied with but not like yours!
The 70-200 is an extremely sharp lens, but like all lenses, there's a sweet spot that gives the best results.

Experiment, experiment, experiment! S-

Strawberry Moon. S-
My wife makes strawberry jam, strawberry scones, strawberry ice cream pie with chocolate graham cracker crust. She is always in search of the ripe fruit. If Elon stops at the moon on the way back from Mars, I will ask him to haul back a year's supply of the soil.

The first has a bit too much strawberry on the edge for me; more subtle in the second.
Thanks. Matt

Good one Steve !!! I missed it of course. Only because I'm so ignorant and never knew of a "Strawberry Moon". Okay, I can go back to bed now, because I learned something new today.

Hecka nice job, and yes, the moon is moving faster than it looks so the shorter the exposure the greater the sharpness. The longest crop sensor focal length I have in 300 (equivalent) and it's not enough. Maybe I should look into a doubler...
Friends call me Chuck. :photo: This link takes you to my Flickr albums. Please click on any album to scroll through it.
(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

When I got the doubler I expected it to be WOW That's really close, and it wasn't of course, but now when I take it off I think wow that really is better. It's an odd thing like the wide angle lens I got that I thought I would never use but love. S-
