I love an unusual shot like this. In some ways it is a typical Malarz shot of a wildly dramatic sky dwarfing a dramatic but under-stated landscape. But if you had titled it "Rattlesnake in Snow" I would have fallen for that too.

Masterful! Wow! I'm thinkin' a Wratten 21 or 25, or a polarizer, but my first guess would be a red 25. One of the most interesting things about this picture is the disparate cloud decks, big cumulus below, stratocumulus above. Either way we gits rain. :D

Chuck, thank you very much for the compliment. Actually, a D700 with no filters. However, the intent was a 25A. So, you weren't too far off. The cloud layers were fascinating, but all they did was raise the humidity to an uncomfortable level for this area, along with the summer heat. This particular day didn't get rain. Thanks again,
