Weird, captivating and Martian-looking. I’ve tried capturing interesting atmospherics from planes but have not had much success. You’ve done well here with this richly colored (almost lurid) image.

Thanks, Minnie. It was definitely one of those, "oh my look at that" moments. Fortunately, I generally have a camera close by. Placed the rubber lens shade against the window and got lucky. The plane had just ascended above a fog bank and the sun was just sinking into the same fog.
