Rising Mist

Post by pah43 » Mon Jan 01, 2018 6:47 am

Hi Guys, I haven't posted here for quite sometime, time sort of passed by and I was busy doing stuff!!! Since my last post I have moved on from using Lightroom etc and decided to go with Affinity Photo, the main reason being I didn't like Adobe marketing methods and I own Affinity outright - took a bit of getting used to but now quite happy with it. The shot posted below was taken early one morning on the river Murray this past winter in South Australia - I go there quite often and have many many shots of this area, we don't get a lot of fog / mist as we are quite warm compared to most places so I do like to capture it when I can,

Cheers Paul

This is lovely, Paul. I am often drawn to the gentle, quiet and contemplative landscapes. I find great interest in the starkness of the trees also. Beautiful work!

First, welcome back! We are rebuilding and having lots of interaction here on pM and glad to have you. Hope you’ll hang around!

This is very nice, with its stark simplicity, great leading line/vanishing point, and limited color palette. The two larger trees provide great anchors for the eye.

I want to be there. If that is a sure sign of a successful picture, well, I want to be there.

Lovely. Austere, pristine, minimal. Wish I could do that. Matt

The scene feels so muted it could almost be a painting then there's the cormorant all nice and sharp and it brings you back to reality. It's the mist I suppose and the image is better for it. The reflections are lovely too!

Thanks for your comments everyone I do appreciate them, The area I live in is semi desert - very harsh light most days so I do love to visit the river as often as I can to be able to capture the more subtle lighting and landscapes that are there.

I've been blessed to visit Sydney and Melbun, but never as far west as you. I'll say Hi if I'm ever that way again! S-
