Spring in the Swamp

Post by minniev » Mon Apr 18, 2016 4:19 pm

New here, from Mississippi, so thought I'd post one of our typical landscapes to start with. I spend a fair amount of time in swamps and under the local dam. We don't have grand scenery here, so I try to make the most of what we have and do a bit of traveling to explore other kinds of scenery.

Exquisite light and color, Minnie! A rich, lush feel with that exposure and details.

Folks, I know Minnie from another forum - got a great chuckle out of "I spend a lot of time in swamps and under dams." :D

Makes me want to buy some waders and drop in. Amazingly beautiful. I'm curious though, would a black and white conversion work here or are the colors too close?

Thank you for sharing and hope to see more of your work here! S-

Thanks, Linda and Steve!

I think this one was shot a little too late in the day to give me a good monochrome conversion, but those shot in the morning have enough backlighting to get some separation of tonalities. Maybe even some taken from another angle on this visit.

Watch out with those waders though, Steve, the alligators are waking up from their long winter's nap, and they're hungry!

Nice shot Minnie, and welcome to pM! I see swamp water and I always expect to see a gator head popping up. Guess that comes from spending a bit of time in Georgia and Florida! :)
