Love these the way they are. I can almost smell peat burning in the first two. In the third, I see an echo of Christina's World. Now Piet's World? Thanks. Matt

Matt, sometimes it is strange and even surprising how we impact each others lives. Some of your coastal images during the summer helped convince me that this was something that I would attempt to do. Thank you Matt!

Piet, while I love being on the dark side too, I have no other choice but to love your new sense of place !!! Looking forward to more.

Sorry to be so late to the party, but I really like your “sense of place”images. The end-of-day images are esp3cially attractive to my eye...I understand the comment re: possible inder3xposure...but suspect the captured effect had been your goal.
In the first and 5hird I must admit to more than a little surprise at the downright midwesternish broad flattitude of the terrain! You sure that’s West-by Gawd- Virginia? I’ve traveled your state in a number of directions from varied starting and ending places and somehow missed this hunk of flatland. Where’s it at?

Your images give me a new and unexpected sense-of-place in WV !

Best t’ye, and a Happy New Year!

Dave

Hi Dave, Let me set your geography at ease! We still have our hilly home in WV, I have a bedroom for my wife and for myself there, but I am charging rent to one of my daughters and to a niece - enough to take care of taxes and insurance and the electric bill. The pictures were taken at a downsized fixer-upper second home that is on the bay side of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. All the images but one were taken from either my front porch or from the back deck.

We are now very poor in money, but rich in scenery. I have been working hard at the "fixing up", we have one room Almost finished! My greedy goals for the future include a beat up truck, a beat up kayak, and a small beat up bass boat, so that I can get my beat up camera onto the water.

Yikes, Piet, that's astounding! The rainbow isn't the only magic you caught, the light itself is amazing. What a combination of effects!

Very mesmerizing. Hope you took a walk over to where that rainbow ended to see it there was a pot of gold there. ;)
