My Image - Your Look: Breakwater Lighthouses, Franfort, MI

Post by Bob Yankle »

This image was underexposed but had some interesting components to it. Taken from the Elberta Overlook on Lake Michigan, it shows the two lighthouses that mark the entrance to Betsie Lake, and a good portion of the Great Lake. I'm curious to see just how much of this can be cleaned up and made into something a bit more noteworthy.

This is the link to the .tif file in Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dd5qi9hntoitw ... I.tif?dl=0 If this doesn't work, PM me and I will send the file as an Email attachment if you are so interested.

Bob sends ...... Keep smiling!

I was honored you jumped in and started a new My Image - Your Look challenge so I thought I'd devote some time to this and try to be first. S-

Thank you Steve. Were you able to download the .tif file from Dropbox? There was a lot more detail in the bottom-most foliage than I had anticipated.

The Tiff was wonderful and only seemed to limit Lightroom a little. Thank you for the challenge! S-

Here's my rather straightforward edit. All done in Lightroom.

Thanks Duck. A nicely constrained crop and a golden sky makes for a tidy "golden hour" treatment. I use LR for most of my global edits, then finish in PS for the layer work and masking capabilities.

Not sure I understood what you meant by cleaned up, but here's a quick take.....

Yep, Frank, that cleaned it up considerably. If this is just a "quick take" I can only imagine what your more serious projects look like (in a good way).

Thank you Bob, quick is a debatable term I guess but it wasn't that much work Bob, glad you liked it and thank you for the opportunity.

I had always envisioned this as a dramatic sky event.
