The child and the cow will look at me

Postby Graham Smith » Sat Oct 14, 2017 3:16 pm

The women avoid any immodest eye contact. Another thing to mention is that it is not uncommon for a cow to be considered of more worth to a man than his wife.
But, thankfully, things are rapidly changing.

Glorious color Graham. Dof is superb. The boy's eyes pop. Am surprised they posed for you. No matter how poor people are, they always wear jewelry. Our need for beauty to be part of our lives, I guess. Matt

Hello Matt, they are often willing to have you take their picture. If not they will just turn away but will still engage with you, they are not at all annoyed with you. The bangles you see are in indication that they are married women, I think one also had a gold bangle, many do wear gold but it is often a form of saving rather than adornment.

The colors are beautiful and the image well taken. The lesson on their social background is helpful too. Thank you for adding this! S-

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Wonderful image, with the pair of women held together by their gazes towards each other, and the child and cow held together by their gaze at you. These doubled pairs are set a little off center with the right side framed by vegetation. It is a glorious composition even without the wonderful details of color, design, and human story about culture, geography and relationship. A story in a picture.
