Oh Piet, this took my breath away! The wind and strength of those well formed waves, all golden in the light + the angle at which you were positioned to them, the pano aspect of the composition - absolutely stunning. The bird is, of course, laigniappe :) Huge impact.

This is beautiful, Piet. The drama of the winter seas, the bird skirting over the top. The color palette is limited but rich.

But do tell me if you photographed the horses while you were there? I've never been to Chincoteague but have photographed the horses on Assateague and it was probably one of my most memorable experiences with a camera.

What, no haiku?

Wings in whirling winds
Combing waves to golden locks
Force meeting power

Gorgeous image. Matt

Perfect companion to the picture. I can hear the gulls screaming.

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

thank you so much good friends - we were glad that we went, but it was COLD. I got an accidental shot of a flock of red winged black birds - that were not black, I will work on them tomorrow, but I we saw no horses this time. If I get a good shot Paula, I will share it. Matt, today my brain was too much like mush to make much. Your haiku is beautiful.

Piet, If I am permitted an edit, here it is:

Wings in whirling winds
Combing waves to golden manes
Force meeting power

It took a while for the Muse to finish. Matt

LOL - I like manes, particularly for where this is. One word, and so stronger it becomes.

Yes, I thought of the horses and that must have prompted the change. Matt
