Top Of The World

Postby Bobby Deal » Mon Dec 15, 2014 2:14 am

Some of the results of a day spent the day shooting menus items for Top of the World on the 106th floor of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino. As tasty as the food is I was also shooting in the open air of the 360 degree rotating dining room of this fine dining establishment. At nearly 900' above the Las Vegas Strip the view was a constant distraction. How ever the fact that the food and my camera were on the revolving floor of the dining room and my feet were on the stable rim around the outside I think I must have walked 10 miles during this session just keeping pace with my tripod which was constantly moving away from me. A challenge I had not anticipated going into the session. Food is definitely not my element but I did have a good time with it and the client is happy with the output.

This was a solo gig, there was no money in the budget to hire a stylist so it was just me and the Chef. Overall I am happy with the shots though I know there were some things I could improve on.

Food isn't one of my strengths but these look good to me. Good enough to eat I think. :) The case of the wandering tripod sounds funny. Unanticipated indeed.
