Breads

Postby Duck » Sun Oct 15, 2017 9:48 pm

Searching my back catalog for a client image I came across these unused images of breads and thought, why not, let me play around with them. Something simple and artistic. Thoughts and opinions welcomed. I think it has a nostalgic 70's feel to them.

I was just playing with Nik Color Efex "nostalgic" film filters yesterday. Interesting how those, and others similar, use the yellowed look for that era - just like we pulled a fading print from our shoebox of memories :) And that makes me curious to know, Duck, if you have strong memories of bakeries, deli's or such when younger?

Speaking strictly of these images, for me bread needs to be crisp and fresh-looking, unless perhaps taking further to abstract.

You have that 70's nostalgic feel with the first, but I'm not as satisfied with the second. My eye jumps to that dark roll at the top-left corner and distracts me from the otherwise tasty looking rolls in the rest of the image. There are other parts of the image that seem to have the same tonal value but my eye goes there first. S-

Thanks for the comments, folks. I was playing around with the processing not so much for a stand alone image, but one to use in advertising. Maybe background, like in a menu or display ad. Who knows. 8~
