Couple & Sales

Post by Ernst-Ulrich Schafer » Fri May 26, 2017 7:39 pm

I'm putting this thread here in hopes to help someone along with their portrait business.

Had this couple visit me here at the studio last week and wanted some portraits as they are celebrating their 60th Anniversary.
They purchased two 2ea matted & framed portraits to 16X16 and then 11ea 8X's & 2 ea 5X's, total amount of the sale came in at
$1140. I didn't sell any files, but did offer 1 file to be used for the newspaper at no charge. This was a In Person Ordering Appt where
I shared the portraits I saved for them from our session and we narrowed things down to 6 files they wanted to order from. Using
the internet to try and sell your work just doesn't work as well as in person sales. I made some suggestions and allowed them to
order A la Carte. They paid me up front of $250 to reserve my time here at the studio and I applied that amount towards their
order.

Just want to share what anyone can do with print sales.

Best regards, Ernst

Thank you for sharing this. I find it drives home two important points about things classic & tried and true. Your success in a tried and true sales method is one half of an equation. The other classic is wrapped up in the piece of art itself. The posing, lines, key matching and expressions are timeless. Well done sir not in the execution of a fine portrait alone but also in the pudding wherein we find the proof of a personal sales approach.
If you've never failed you've never tried.

A very beautiful portrait. This is heirloom quality, a rarity in today's digital age.
