Totally agree with both remarks. The bird is gorgeous! I think it is a North American Whimbrel (I hadda look it up).

That's on absolutely super "environmental portrait". I can hear the receding water and feel the wet sand on my chest!

Your shallow dof really focus attention on the bird's focused behavior!
Really good work!

As a bird watcher, shorebirds are my bête noire, but I think Chuck's suggestion of whimbrel is right!

I love the low angle, Frank; these knees however are long past that flex point. Great light Great detail on the bird. And the sparkles don't distract. Nicely done. Matt
