Re: learning to see
So do mean like his right hand fingers...adding the color shouldn't have made them disappear??

a lot got more work before I added color. Back of the hand needs much more work to look right I guess, no fingers should show...

Well you said you added color..that brown tone I'm guessing and you said you see lots of problems..I noticed the hand issue and was wondering if things like that was what you meant

I think the hand is hard, it is much better than it was, but it still doesn't read right. But I notice a lot more, like on his left arm, the vein is too far to the side, her face and other parts are way too bright, for some reason, when I added the color two things happened.
1) I noticed more thing that had evaded me before
2) I hate it, until the colors are "right", the color sucks...

put a couple more hours into it making value and drawing corrections and playing with rough color - I guess it is ok as an underpainting. Next step is to take a few places and see if I can actually overpaint it and make some of it look right. Still learning, still seeing more (wearing glasses now), still trying.
